Privacy Policy for Zebis Screen Saver

Zebis Inc. (“Zebis,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the Zebis Screen Saver for Android TV application (“Zebis Screen Saver” or the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, stores, uses, and shares.

1. Information the App Accesses or Stores

Screen-saver settings

The App stores the following choices locally on your Android TV device:

• Your selected screen-saver theme; and
• Whether screen-saver sound is enabled or disabled.

These settings are used only to provide your selected screen-saver experience. Zebis receives the selected theme as an analytics event as described below, but does not receive the sound setting.

Temporary stream information

To start and maintain video playback, the App may temporarily cache an extracted video stream address and related lock file in the App’s private cache directory. The App uses this technical information to avoid unnecessary repeated requests and to retry playback if a stream is interrupted. The App does not use this cache to build a viewing history or profile about you.

Remote configuration information

The App uses Firebase Remote Config to retrieve the current list and order of available screen-saver themes. Firebase Remote Config and Firebase Installations may process a Firebase installation identifier, IP address, application package and version information, configuration request details, and basic device or connection information needed to deliver and protect the configuration service. Zebis does not use this information for advertising.

App analytics and playback diagnostics

The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to record when the screen saver starts, which theme is used or selected, and when a video fails to load or stalls. These events may include the theme name and catalog URL, the video service domain, the stage and type of a playback error, retry number, App version, general device information, approximate location inferred from an IP address, and a pseudonymous App-instance or installation identifier. The App does not send temporary extracted stream addresses, names, email addresses, or other user-entered content in these events. Advertising-ID collection is disabled.

Internet and network information

The App requires an internet connection and may check whether a network connection is available. When the App requests theme information or streams a video, the third-party service receiving the request may automatically receive technical information normally sent with an internet connection, such as:

• Your internet protocol (IP) address;
• The date and time of the request;
• The requested video, page, or stream address;
• Request headers and information about the connection; and
• Device, application, or general location information inferred from the IP address, depending on the provider’s practices.

This information is sent directly from your device to Firebase, the applicable video service, or a content-delivery provider. Zebis does not operate those services.

Information the App does not collect

The App does not:

• Require account registration or sign-in;
• Collect your name, email address, telephone number, contacts, or precise location;
• Access your camera, microphone, photos, videos, or other personal files;
• Use an advertising identifier or include a third-party advertising SDK; or
• Use analytics data for advertising or personalized marketing.

2. How Information Is Used

The App uses locally stored and technical information to:

• Remember your selected screen-saver theme and sound setting;
• Retrieve and cache the current theme catalog from Firebase Remote Config;
• Retrieve the selected theme from a third-party video service;
• Play and repeat the video stream on your Android TV device;
• Detect interrupted playback and retry the stream; and
• Measure theme popularity and diagnose video-loading or playback failures; and
• Reduce unnecessary stream-information requests through short-term caching.

Zebis does not sell personal or sensitive user information. The App does not use personal information for advertising or marketing.

3. Third-Party Services and Sharing

YouTube and Google

The App’s available themes are hosted on YouTube. To identify and play a selected stream, the App communicates with YouTube, Google, and their content-delivery infrastructure. Google may process technical information and viewing activity under its own terms and privacy practices. For more information, review the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service.

Firebase Remote Config

The App uses Firebase Remote Config and Firebase Installations, services provided by Google, to retrieve and cache the available video catalog. Google processes associated technical and installation information on Zebis’s behalf to provide, secure, and maintain these services. Google Analytics for Firebase

The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase, a service provided by Google, to provide aggregated usage reports and technical playback diagnostics. Google processes the analytics events and associated device, App, network, and pseudonymous identifier information on Zebis's behalf. Zebis uses this information to understand theme popularity and maintain reliable playback, not for advertising. Open-source playback components

The App uses open-source software components, including AndroidX Media3, OkHttp, and NewPipe Extractor, to retrieve and play video streams. These libraries operate as part of the App on your device. Zebis does not use them as hosted analytics or advertising services.

Legal disclosures

The App does not create a user account or provide Zebis with a user profile. If Zebis receives information through Firebase, a direct support inquiry, or another interaction, we may disclose it when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, investigate fraud or abuse, or protect the rights, safety, and security of users, Zebis, or others.

4. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

Screen-saver settings are stored in the App’s private storage on your Android TV device. They remain there until you change them, clear the App’s data, or uninstall the App. Android backup or device-transfer features may retain or transfer these settings according to your device and Google account settings.

Temporary stream addresses are stored in the App’s private cache. The App generally reuses a cached stream address for no more than five minutes unless the address specifies an earlier expiration. Cache files may remain until they expire and are accessed again, Android clears the cache, you clear the App’s data, or you uninstall the App.

Firebase may cache activated configuration values, analytics events, and installation information locally. Clearing the App’s data or uninstalling it removes those local records. Firebase may retain service-side records according to Google’s retention and security practices; reinstalling or fetching configuration after local data is cleared may create a new installation identifier.

Internet requests use encrypted HTTPS connections when supported by the third-party service. No storage or transmission system is completely secure, and Zebis cannot guarantee the security of third-party services or networks.

Third-party providers retain information according to their own privacy policies and retention practices. Zebis does not control those retention periods.

5. Your Choices

You may:

• Choose a different screen-saver theme or change the sound setting in the App;
• Stop the App’s streaming activity by disabling or changing the active screen saver;
• Delete locally stored settings and cache files by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling it;
• Manage Google and YouTube activity through your Google account and device settings; and
• Contact Zebis with questions about this Privacy Policy.

Because the App has no user accounts and collects no user-entered personal information, Zebis generally cannot directly connect analytics records to a named person. You may contact Zebis about technical information processed through Firebase services. Privacy requests relating to information independently processed by Google or YouTube may be directed to Google.

6. Children’s Privacy

Zebis Screen Saver is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe personal information from a child has been provided directly to Zebis in connection with the App, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

7. International Processing

YouTube, Google, and their content-delivery providers may process information using systems located in the United States and other countries. Their handling of information, including international transfers, is governed by their own privacy practices.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App, our practices, legal requirements, or third-party services. We will update the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice when required.
